Something people love more than a good Wetherspoons is a review of the place afterwards.

And where better to make your voice heard than in the comments section on Tripadvisor.

But here are the 19 'Spoons' pubs across SE London ranked in order of best to worst as voted by the customers themselves.

1. The Furze Wren in Bexleyheath - 164%

"Went to the Furze for a quick bite to eat, followed the Covid signs beneath our feet. Registered Track and Trace at my own pace. Got the chicken bites what a delight!

"Three portions of Halloumi man they taste groovy. The Triple B Burger was Beastly and boasting bear flavour.

"Sat at 76 we drunk double Hendricks! Have you tried there Raspberry and meringue gin? Man, that’s a sick thing! Left a tip because man it was a pleasant trip!"

"Shopping in Bexleyheath stopped off for lunch and a coffee for two, got a table, ordered food and drinks on the app, lunch served within a few minutes, pleasant staff, fantastic value for money all for just over a tenner!”

2. The Gate Clock in Greenwich 158%

"A wonderful experience. I have been multiple times in the last few days with family as it’s super reasonable and reliable and the staff are always super friendly, even when it’s extremely busy. Even so, they are still taking good measures with covid restrictions and the staff are really helpful and just make the whole experience so much easier."

"Good friendly service. Food good and excellent value as usual. Just brilliant for a quick bite. Massive selection of drinks."

"We're on holiday in Greenwich. Wetherspoons almost always offer great value. However, we have been here for the last couple of nights and haven't seen a table wiped or glasses and plates collected. The staff eventually deliver orders but never collect stuff off the tables."

3. The Flying Boat in Dartford - 147%

"Cheap and cheerful - A handy place for a bite to eat which is inexpensive. The food menu is varied and caters for most people. The meal and drinks deals are a good option. Due to Wetherspoons popularity, it tends to be very busy here which can cause people to leave and eat elsewhere as they cant get seated."

"Just your typical Spoons, really cheap drink and cheap food. Now we visit spoons all over the UK and the food is the same in each one, however at this one whoever plated our food up had entered the food throwing on a plate world championships!"

4. The Greyhound in Bromley - 137 %

"I must congratulate Greyhound for a lovely steak meal with a pint of beer - not only was the price brilliant, but the steak was also cooked to perfection, lovely jacket potato, grilled tomato, mushroom and peas. Good service and happy ambience."

"I usually find the Wetherspoons brunch pretty reliable but on this occasion, the eggs were completely overcooked and rubbery like the plate had been left under a hot lamp for a while, or the eggs had been ready for a while.

"The portion seems to have shrunk, the breakfast is by far better value and selection. On the other hand, my partner thoroughly enjoyed his fish and chips, hence the 4-star rating."

5. The New Cross Turnpike in Welling - 121%

"I have been to about 100 Wetherspoons. The New Cross Turnpike is totally different to the normal ones. It is a superb pub ranking in the top five of the Wetherspoons I have frequented, It has all the virtues of Wetherspoons pubs (cheap drinks and food) but with the huge bonus of an exciting layouts."

"I have been coming here since it opened and must confess I have only ever had one bad meal. That was a Sunday roast and they don't do them any more. I can't knock the prices. Food quality better than a lot of local restaurants. It can be busy and a bit noisy sometimes, but let's face it, it is a popular place for drinkers and why not it is basically a traditional pub atmosphere."

6. The Tailor’s Chalk in Sidcup - 96%

"We eat here on average once a month and the food is always great. If there is ever a problem the staff are always happy to help resolve it and make sure you're happy. We usually have steak, which is great quality and (as you'd expect from a Wetherspoons) excellent value."

"I and my partner visited this pub for an early breakfast as we had a very busy day ahead of us. We both ordered a full breakfast, but mine was cold and inedible, my partners' was lukewarm."

7. The Richmal Crompton in Bromley - 75%

"Classic Wetherspoons, food is delivered very quickly and good quality. Can get a bit loud in the evenings but is perfect for families during the day. Good choice of food at a good price."

"Large and buzzy place opposite Bromley South Station and with spoons usual great range of beers. I visited on steak night and got a 10oz portion of gristle - even the steak knife wouldn't cut through it. Manager replaced it with a smaller but better steak but someone needs to kick spoons meat suppliers, this was awful. My score reflects my experience, the pub is better than this."

8. The Sovereign of the Seas in Petts Wood -70%

"Classic roomy 'Spoons delivering exceptional variety at exceptional prices. Fine Ale at £1.79 per pint, compares with identical brew 30 mins away at central London train station at £5.59. Food is of good quality and great value. Can take a while to get served when busy. Easier to take a table and get personally served via the online app."

"Large, clean, and the food is excellent, as is the service. Fantastic value. If you want a quick meal, some good beers and all at a very low price you couldn't do better."

"The service is awful, we sat down found a table, which had all the glasses, tissues, plates and leftovers from the previous people. The barmaid said we had 25 mins ish to wait for food, so they had time to clear this table."

9. The Wrong ‘Un in Bexleyheath - 64%

"I come to the pub regularly and for me, it is the best Wetherspoons in the area. Staff seem happy to be there, great and fast service. Good selection of beers."

"We’ve had a problem in the past with the steak being too thickly cut therefore it doesn’t get cooked properly in the middle and we’ve had to send it back. Well, this evening we ordered steak and asked for it medium to well because we knew it would be thick, the steak was very dry around the edges and grey in the middle."

10. The Great Harry in Woolwich - 64%

"For a Spoons, this place is OK. Food is as expected, staff are helpful and attentive for the most part. It's large enough that you can find a decent seat."

“It's fine. Standard menu and decor, pretty cheap, food arrived quickly and drinks are reasonable. It can get pretty busy and sometimes the sport on the TVs is a bit loud but otherwise, it's fine.”

11. The Moon and Stars in Penge - 54%

"Food is always tasty, drinks reasonably priced and the service is good, just a shame about the sticky tables."

"The staff in the pub were so miserable, one of them served me three times and he did not utter a single word or crack a smile absolutely miserable also the table was filthy as were the wine glasses. "The actual pub itself is quite nice and the toilets were extremely clean."

News Shopper:

12. The Brockley Barge in Brockley - 44%

"A typical Wetherspoons, great value and great service. The bar staff are always friendly. Clean surroundings."

"Why is the breakfast served cold every single time? Someone needs to have a serious word with the chef, or chefs. This food is obviously pre-cooked and then left to stand, awaiting orders."

News Shopper:

13. The Edmund Halley in Lee Green - 37%

"Great fish for the price served very quickly (ordered on the app). Staff friendly, great price."

"As we entered the sign on the door said to wash our hands because of coronavirus.

"Great but the nearest water was in the toilet on the upper floor down a long alley. Alcohol gel by the door would've been great.

"The beer and staff were good. Then we came to order food on the app, nearly all the grill items were out off stock."

14. The Banker’s Draft in Eltham- 36%

"We had breakfast here before a visit to Eltham Palace. It is the smallest place in the Wetherspoons family. The place was busy with locals when we arrived. The staff were friendly and efficient, service was prompt and the food was good and extremely good value for money."

"We had a good breakfast and a friendly welcome. No coffee or tea machine. But it is offered at the end of the counter.

"It is more a local pub and not particularly welcoming from outside. We very rarely see people eating there and we pass it regularly. Would not be in a hurry to go back."

15.The Capitol in Forest Hill - 34%

“This old cinema is now a Wetherspoon's pub, with a fabulous Art Deco style bar where the screen was. Great atmosphere and the usual excellent choice of ales.”

“Decent range of beers and lower prices but that's where it ends. It's a cool venue but it's so blunted and dulled by the depressing atmosphere and tired furniture that you just want to down your drink and get the hell out! It would be a decent mid-sized music venue!”

News Shopper:

16. The Postal Order in Crystal Palace- 33%

"I took my mum for a meal we had steak and chips, and that's what was on the plate no peas or salad, a basic meal, there was no vinegar in the place for the chips, the only sauces available was mayonnaise or brown sauce, the staff was friendly and the place was clean."

"Let’s start with the plus points; beer, wine, spirits excellent choice very reasonably priced, staff very pleasant very polite, food very standard but nice.

"Bad points; dirty tables, dirty floor ie tissue, beer mats, menu’s, just untidy, there was five staff chatting to each other instead of going around cleaning up.

"The toilets are very smelly. This is a really nice establishment and I am sure it will only get better, I will definitely be back."

17. The Harvest Moon in Orpington - 33%

"We took out three grandchildren in for Dinner whilst offers were on, we ate well. The desserts were extra yummy, great for a cheap family night out, since then we've been back four times for the breakfast very nice and quick service, bar staff very friendly and helpful, we will be going back again this week."

"Funny smell. Well priced drinks though.

"A place to chill, I will probably be back if I'm drunk enough to want to revisit."

18. The Watch House in Lewisham - 33%

"I liked the Watch House a lot, it is a good old fashioned English pub with a good selection on beers on tap. The staff and the patrons are friendly, I would drop in every night for a few pints when we were staying in the village. I must say I enjoyed the ale, it is the taste of traditional English beer."

"Twice now I have ordered a vegan food option (lower calories without eggs) and twice now I have been given food with eggs. It seems staff have yet to be trained in the difference between vegetarianism and veganism."

"Food was mediocre and the waiting times were awful. We waited 40 minutes for food followed by another half an hour for some pancakes! "Wouldn’t recommend coming here especially on a Sunday, it wasn’t even busy but always short-staffed."

News Shopper:

19. The London and Rye in Catford - 21%

"We ordered the food and drink from the table on a phone app and the service was reasonably good. There were no surprises food-wise, it did what the menu said."

"My pint of Doom Bar and the smallest jacket potato I’ve ever seen, which arrived some considerable while after it was ordered, was cunningly concealed under a pile of salad, and cost a total of just over £6.

"The cutlery seemed to smell of metal polish or something similar.

"The truth is the food wasn’t that good but it filled the gap."
