A swan has been shot in the neck with an air gun in Thamesmead.
Greenwich Police have launched an investigation after the swan was found injured and bloody in Southmere Park on Wednesday, August 19.
The police force state that all wild birds are protected from taking/injuring/killing, meaning the act is classed as criminal damage.
They are now appealing for information to identify the person responsible.
The Swan Patrol Team in SE28 posted on Wednesday stating that someone had thought it was fun to shoot a female in the side of the neck with a .22 calibre air gun.
The swan was taken away to the Swan Sanctuary where an update on her condition is awaited.
The patrol team said: "We are truly devastated by this evil barbaric act of cruelty that has been carried out on this defenceless creature.
"Words fail me on this. I hope to whoever carried this out that your world falls apart."
Anyone with information should contact 101 with the crime reference number 3911330/20.
