Police officers and members of the public have been taken to hospital after an armed police car collided with two other vehicles and a traffic island in Lee.

Long traffic delays are reported in Lee, and pictures show a worse for wear police car after it collided with a traffic light at the junction of Burnt Ash Hill and Westhorne Avenue.

According to police, at around 9:45am today, a market police car was responding to an emrgency call when a collision occured with two other vehicles.

The collission took place on Burnt Ash Hill at the junction with St Mildred's Road, Bromley.

London Ambulance Service and MPS Road Traffic Officers are on the scene, and both officers and members of the public have been taken to hospital with injuries.

We await an update on there condition. In the meantime, road closures and diversions are in place. 

They added: "As is routine, the matter will be referred to the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards."

The incident has caused major traffic delays in Lee and the wider area, and drivers are being asked to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.

According to the AA, "taffic is heavier than normal and very slow traffic on A20 Eltham Road both ways from A210 Eltham Road to A2212 Burnt Ash Road (Lee Green).

"People avoiding the closure of A205 South Circular and the problems around Kidbrooke Interchange."
