A paedophile who manipulated a Greenhithe woman into sexually abusing a child for his gratification called himself ‘The Master’, a court was told.

James Jewell, 36, who was sentenced to life last week, encouraged one mother - who he called his "slave" - into performing sex acts on a child.

The bearded former construction worker sat with his head bowed and rocking in the dock as Maidstone Crown Court heard the sordid details of his life.

Jewell told a psychiatrist and a probation officer he could not remember the details of his crimes because there were so many women.

He then claimed he had heard "laughing voices" inside his head.

But the father of one of his victims blasted Jewell as a manipulator and urged the judge not to be fooled by the "evil" pervert.

Jewell met both women online and encouraged them to carry out sexual abuse of children, police said.

In 2017, one of these women was contacted through his interest in bondage, before Jewell urged her to make sex tapes.

His control over her only came to light when she, "in a blasé fashion", lent her phone to a friend in July 2018, who discovered images and reported them to the police.

During a long investigation, detectives revealed WhatsApp messages between him and two women which revealed the full horror the children were put through.

Jewell, of Puddletown in Dorchester, Dorset, was jailed for life after admitting 14 offences.

Judge David Griffith-Jones QC told him: "You were the dominant and controlling one with the women being subservient.

"You treated one of them as your slave to obey your commands and do your bidding."

The judge added: "Even for someone well used to seeing a procession of cases prosecuted for serious sexual offences, it has to be said that the extremes of depravity which these offences reveal was frankly breathtaking."

He added the victims now faced a "perilous" future after being subjected to the "ghastly acts".

Prosecutor Oliver Dunkin told how Jewell admitted eight charges of aiding, abetting, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, one of aiding and abetting sexual assault of a child, two offences of distributing indecent moving images of children and three offences of making a total of 139 indecent photographs of children.

He added: "He was telling these women what to do. They referred to him as master."

The father of one of Jewell's victims told the judge how the child now suffered "horrific nightmares" as a result of the abuse suffered.

Defence barrister, Clare Dowse, claimed Jewell was physically abused by his mother from the age of three which left him "with a lingering hatred of women and a desire to be in control".

She added that his desire when released is "to end his own life".

Kirsty Kimber, of York Road, Tunbridge Wells was jailed for more than nine years in February, for her part in the abuse.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to six counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, four counts of taking indecent photographs of a child and three counts of distributing indecent photographs of a child.

Another woman from Greenhithe, Kent, who has not been named, was handed a 14-month sentence suspended for 18 months in July 2019 after admitting seven child sex offences.

Both women were also handed Sexual Harm Prevention Orders.
