Two people were rushed to a major trauma centre following a serious crash involving multiple cars in New Cross. 

Ambulance services were called to Southerngate Way shortly after 8pm, treating four patients involved in the pile-up at the scene. 

The crash appeared to involve three vehicles. An air ambulance landed in nearby Fordham Park.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.13pm yesterday (August 13) to reports of a collision involving multiple vehicles on Southerngate Way, New Cross.” 

“We dispatched a number of resources including four ambulance crews, medics in cars and an incident response officer, with the first of our medics arriving within two minutes.” 

“We treated four patients at the scene and took two of those to a major trauma centre.”
