Firefighters extinguished 20 tonnes of flaming rubbish at a dump in Crayford after an explosion rocked the area.
Heavy smoke was seen billowing from Thames Road recycling centre last night, with four engines and around 25 firefighters rushing to the scene shortly before 9pm.
Crews from Erith, Sidcup and Kent attended, bringing the incident under control by 10.40pm.
There were no reports of any injuries and thee cause of fire is under investigation.
