It was an ordinary Friday night for Michael Hathway, when he noticed something strange while out walking near Bromley Common.
At 10.45pm on August 7, the printer from Bromley saw around a dozen lights on Jackson Road, heading towards Bickley. Mr Hathway proceeded to pull out his phone, to capture the blue and orange objects. He said:
“I noticed about 8-12 orange bright lights in the sky, coming across the rooftops.
“Initially, I thought they were lanterns, but they weren’t flickering, and they were all the same intensity. The strange thing is that when I had a look at the photos afterwards there were round blue shapes that looked like saucers.”
The 44-year-old added that they made no noise and seemed to be travelling to the same spot and disappearing.
He checked social media, to see if anyone else had posted similar pictures, but found no explanation.
“When you see something like that you just want an explanation, as I’ve never seen anything like that before.
“My father did 10 years ago in Greece, but they turned out to be lanterns. Though when I showed him my photos, he didn’t think they looked like lanterns.”
“Also, they were travelling West to East, which didn’t seem to be the direction the wind was blowing that night.”
Mr Hathway is still confused by what he saw.
“Reality would say it must be something like a lantern, but if it wasn’t, I have no idea what it is. The thing that sent shivers down my spine is when I zoomed in and saw these blue shapes," he said.
