London's police force has seen its highest monthly number of violent deaths so far this year, with four in south east London.

The Metropolitan Police has recorded 15 homicides so far in July, while figures on the force's crime data website show there were nine in June and eight in May.

In March and April the figure was slightly above average, with 12 homicides recorded in each month, up from seven in February and 11 in January. This makes a total of 74 so far.

There have been four such incidents in south east London during the period.

Khloemae Loy, 23, was stabbed to death at the Holiday Inn, Greenwich, on July 5.

Police have since charged Taye Francis, 39, of no fixed address, with murder.

Just days later, on July 8, 18-year-old Donnell Rhule was stabbed to death in West Dulwich.

Despite the efforts of police and paramedics, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene and an investigation launched.

Two men from Bromley have since been charged with his murder.

On the following weekend, Dean Edwards, 43, was exiting Betts Park, Penge, shortly after midnight when he was shot in the back of the head.

Police, who say they have "no reason to believe" Mr Edwards was involved in crime, are yet to make arrests.

Yesterday a man who died after he was run over by a van following a mass brawl outside a pub in Chislehurst was named.

Frank Bulbrook, 34, died at the scene near the Gordon Arms on Friday, after police were called to reports of ten men fighting.

Two men arrested on suspicion of murder, aged 30 and 26, remain in hospital, where they are receiving treatment for stab injuries.
