In an effort to boost the newly reopened restaurant industry, the Government is encouraging us to 'eat out to help out', offering discounts to diners from Monday.

The scheme is only available in August, and allows customers to enjoy 50 per cent off food and non-alcoholic drinks, capped at a total of £10 per person.

The discount only applies on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and to spend it you have to eat in at a reopened café, restaurant or pub – something many of us still don’t feel comfortable doing.

The discount will be applied automatically at participating restaurants only, which is anywhere that applied to use the scheme after it was announced.
