Albion outscored relegated Bournemouth and Watford by five points apiece in the nine rounds of premier league restart fixtures.

A table comprising results once fixtures resumed puts Albion 12th with 12 points from nine games.

They took more points than Sheffield United and Leicester and the same as Everton.

Norwich, of course, had the worst post-lockdown record with nine defeats out of nine and only one goal scored.

Crystal Palace only managed four points, despite a promising resumption which saw them win at Bournemouth.

The Argus:

Then come Watford and Bournemouth seven points apiece.

West Ham, like Albion, took 12 points from nine games.

Over a 38-game season, that would give a team 50 or 51 points.

Dean Smith has spoken of Aston Villa’s good lockdown after seeing them come back to eventually save themselves from the drop.

In fact, it was okay – but not great.

Villa picked up ten points from as many games after their 100-day lay-off.

That includes a controversial 0-0 draw with Sheffield United in a delayed match which relaunched the season behind closed doors.

Later the same, evening Manchester City beat Arsenal 3-0 at the Etihad in another rearranged fixture.

City had the best post-lockdown points haul with 24 from ten games.

If the two re-arranged matches of June 17 are excluded, City had 21 points from nine games, the same tally as Manchester United.

Southampton, Tottenham and Chelsea all had excellent restarts with 18 points apiece from the nine rounds, one point more than Liverpool.

Manchester United were the only team to remain unbeaten since the lay-off.

Albion scored a modest seven goals post-lockdown.

Only Palace, with five, and woeful Norwich, with their lone Emiliano Buendia curler at Watford, managed fewer.

Nine teams had more wins than Albion and nine teams had more defeats.

Away from the relegation battle, the table underlines how Manchester United powered past faltering Leicester to secure a Champions League spot.
