A man who allegedly threatened to kill residents in South Norwood, Croydon, and hospitalised two police officers has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) among other offences.
36-year-old Preston man Alec Lemard was charged with "causing grievous bodily harm, actual bodily harm and making threats to kill, as well as two public order and one racially aggravated public order offences" the Met Police said today (Thursday, July 23).
The charges follow a highly charged incident reported on Clifton Road in South Norwood on Tuesday (July 21).
Police said they attended the scene after receiving reports from residents in the area that Lemard was "making threats to residents inside the address".
During their time at the scene of the incident, two police officers were seriously injured and required hospital treatment., police said.
Lemard is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates' Court today.
