A number of fire engines are currently at the scene of a basement blaze at a water pumping station in Greenwich.

The London Fire Brigade say the fire started in a basement station on Achilles Way, and warn that there are road closures in place on Park Lane.

They said in a statement: "Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters are tackling a basement fire at a water pumping station on Achilles Way in Greenwich.

"Road closures are currently in place on Park Lane.

"The Brigade was called at 1043 and fire crews from Soho, Chelsea, Lambeth River fire stations."

At around 1pm, firefighters said the blaze was now under control and road closures had been removed.

In the update, the LFB said that part of an electrical switch room was damaged in the fire, which was caused by an eletrical switch.
