A garage and nearby trees in Gravesend have been set on fire after they were struck by lightning early this morning.
The detached garage in Meopham, Gravesend was set alight after a lightning strike struck the property around 5:50am today, June 26.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service fire engines were called to the garage in Meadow Lane and found it alight, with flames spreading to nearby trees.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a main jet, a hose reel jet, compressed air foam and water from a local hydrant to extinguish the blaze.
They were also able to prevent further fire spread to nearby woods, and the fire was under control by 8:07am.
The fire service said: “No casualties were reported, and the fire is believed to have to started after lightning struck the property.”
