A swan has sadly died in Danson Park after it was attacked by a dog, passing away from "severe injuries" despite the best efforts of a local passerby and the RSPCA to save it.
The male swan was pictured with several bloody injuries in Danson Park yesterday, June 7, after a local resident spotted him and waited with him for over an hour until the RSPCA turned up.
The animal welfare charity has now revealed that the swan has now died.
In a tweet, RSPCA Frontline said he lost his life "due to severe injuries to his jugular and windpipe" following the dog attack.
"His mate and cygnets are now without him."
They have also reminded dog walkers that all dogs must be kept on a lead around wildlife, "as this can be the consequences."
