SUSSEX is a hotspot for fires caused by “hot work” on building sites, figures reveal.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service reported seven fires caused by welding, soldering, or other construction work requiring heat in the year leading up to March 2019.
That is the second-highest number of any fire service in the country. Health and safety firm CE Safety said the risk could be reduced if employers give more staff hot work training.
