LOCKDOWN has been hard for all of us – but there is one group which is not complaining.

Pets across the country have enjoyed more strokes, more cuddles and more quality time with their doting owners than ever.

With restrictions initially preventing people from socialising at all, dogs and cats have been lapping up the extra attention and Argus readers have sent in their favourite snaps of their furry friends during lockdown.

Laura Brown from Telscombe Cliffs said her six-year-old son Dylan and their four-year-old black Labrador Jessie have become “inseparable” over the past few weeks.

Danielle Pellet Ripley from Seaford sent in a cute photo of her partner Glen Ripley beaming with Chilli, their beloved blue Staffy, and said: “We’re forever in lockdown with this one.”

Sam Mead, 38, from Peacehaven, said her one-year-old daughter Willow has also become best friends with their cuddly labrador Boycie.

Dog-owners have also relished spending more time with their pooches outside the house during daily exercise. Amy Evans from Peacehaven even treated her 11-year-old cocker spaniel Oscar to a garden picnic for VE Day.

But some pets have not been so accommodating when it comes to their owners working from home.

Thirteen-year-old Grace Jago from Burgess Hill has been trying to complete her schoolwork from her bedroom. Her mum Hazel said: “Not easy with our 12-year-old cat named Kitten.”
