Firefighters tackled a blaze in Bromley which destroyed a rear house garage.

Crews from Bromley and Greenwich were called to Ridgeway Drive on Saturday shortly after 2.30pm.

Jake Regan-Fleckney, one of 12 people to alert emergency services, initially thought the flames were cause d by an out of control bonfire.

He said: "At about 2.30pm I heard loud bangs. I assumed it was someone with a nail and hammer until it had been going on for a while.

"I popped my head outside and saw the thick smoke and flames. My balcony is 30 feet in the air so the flames must have been high

"I called 999 and reported what I assumed to be a bonfire that had gotten out of control.

"The chap on 999 said that a fire had already been reported on Ridgeway Drive and they were en route

"I quickly took the video and shortly afterwards sirens could be heard."

The fire was brough under control within half an hours. The cause is under investigation.
