Officers with the Met Police in Kingston recovered two guns thought to be several decades old from the River Thames near Kingston this week.
Yesterday, the Twitter account for the Kingston MPS force posted an update on their nighttime activities on Tuesday (May 26), alongside an image of two rusted firearms.
A spokesperson said they had been recovered by someone magnet fishing in a stretch of the river near Kingston before the police were informed.
"Two of our officers recovered these #guns last night; one is believed to be a #Luger.
"They were fished out of the #RiverThames by someone #magnetfishing," the post read.

A Luger is well-known name for a type of semi-automatic pistol made predominantly in Germany during the 20th century.
The other gun fished from the river appeared to be some kind of revolver.
