Home Secretary Priti Patel today paid tribute to Lee Rigby on the seventh anniversary of his murder by terrorists in Woolwich.
Hosting the Government’s daily coronavirus briefing, the Home Secretary finished her address by pausing to remember the fusilier, who was victim to an unprovoked attack in 2013 which sent shockwaves around the world.
She also paid tribute to the 23 victims of the Manchester Arena bombing three years ago, which shares the same anniversary.
Priti Patel said: "I just want to pause to remember those who fell victim to something very different, people who fell victim to despicable acts of terrorism on this day.
"Three years on from the Manchester Arena atrocity and seven years after the horrific murder of Lee Rigby we remember the innocent victims who were so viciously and so brutally struck down.
"My thoughts and all our thoughts across the nation are with everyone who lost loved ones and suffered on this incredibly difficult day.
"We will always remember them."
