A homecare provider in Greenwich has urgently appealed for extra employees as it looks to address ballooning demand amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

Bluebird Care Greenwich, located at Coldharbour Estate, made the appeal for new care assistants on Monday.

The organisation provides in-home care visits and specialises in working with customers who live with dementia, physical disabilities and many other acute and chronic conditions.

As well as personal care they also help with meal preparation, welfare checks, shopping, social trips, visits to the hospital and provide extra support for post-discharge customers.

According to the company, they are actively recruiting more care assistants to cope with the demand across the borough of Greenwich.

Anoop Sekhon, the director of Bluebird Care Greenwich, said the care sector could offer “job stability, safety and rewarding roles”.

“In this difficult and unprecedented situation, it’s not just about being able to help a customer do their shopping. It’s so much more. Being a care assistant in these current times is about saving lives and protecting the health and welfare of our customers,” she said.

“Many customers now will spend a lot of time on their own and will feel lonely. As a care provider it’s our care assistants who offer companionship and a friendly face to our customers who may be spending a lot of time on their own. By increasing the number of care assistants, we can further support those in need.”
