A person has died this morning after being hit by a train at East Croydon station.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to East Croydon station at 9am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Staff from National Rail were also called to the scene at the time.
Taking to Twitter, the account for Network Rail Kent and Sussex wrote: "We've had the sad news that a person has been struck by a train at East Croydon."
As of 10.30am, National Rail said that trains are once again beginning to call at East Croydon but that three platforms are out of use so there will be disruption and delays.
