A former licensee of a nail and tanning shop has been fined over £2000 for breaching serious health and safety regulations.

Donna Nails and Tanning in Welling was caught using tools contaminated with mould on June 5, last year.

Huong Thi Thanh Nguyen, 41 of Heath Road, Crayford, pleaded guilty to three offences at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on February 17.

The 41-year-old allowed unqualified practitioners to carry out licensed treatments and failed to disinfect re-usable equipment.

The court heard that, on June 5 2019, Trading Standards officers found that the premises, fixtures and fittings were filthy.

Officers discovered tools used were slimy and caked with debris.

Razors were found to be rusty and buffers were contaminated with what looked like mould.

The fines and costs awarded totalled to £2,190.

Councillor Peter Craske said: “We take the health and safety of our residents very seriously and will take swift action when it is needed.

“I am pleased that this business is no longer a risk to local people.

“ I urge them to make sure they only use reputable businesses.”
