An Abbey Wood care home which helps people with learning disabilities and complex needs has been rated 'Good' again by the Care Quality Commission.

Bostall House care home in Knee Hill was inspected in January and was rated ‘Outstanding’ in areas relating to its ‘caring’ aspects.

The regulator commented in its report that patients attend monthly meetings when they could make suggestions and voice ideas. These ideas had led to changes in the menu, activities and new furniture.

Elizabeth Ughu, the service manager at Bostall House, said: “We are so proud of our inspection result which reflects the hard work, dedication and continued commitment to raising standards and delivering outstanding care.

"The individuals in our care and those that support us will continue to motivate us to do better and improve further on this fantastic result”.

Bostall House scored ‘Good’ in all other areas including safety and effectiveness and has maintained its ‘Good’ rating from inspections in 2015 and 2017.

The only areas for improvement were that the care home should ensure that the transition to the new electronic care records system is undertaken without delay and also ensure that patients have access to an alarm to alert staff to their needs.

Dr Tony Romero, CEO of Cygnet Health, which runs the home, said: “It is brilliant to see the care of the team at Bostall House recognised by the CQC and the feedback from people’s families and carers.

"I want to commend everyone at Bostall House for their rating which is a reflection of their commitment to the people we support”.
