The Liberal Dem Mayoral candidate pledged to introduce an express night bus service for Bromley residents if she is elected.

Siobhan Benita visited the town centre to unveil the proposal yesterday, which would cut journey times to the outer London boroughs.

Bromley is currently served primarily served by the N199 and N3, which typically take around an hour and 15 minutes to reach the borough from Trafalgar Square.

Ms Benita, who is originally from Wimbledon, said: “Travelling home from central London late at night is an important issue for the boroughs like Bromley – the current night bus service can take 2 hours to get to Bromley.

“I had some really interesting conversations with people this afternoon.

“People clearly care passionately about a range of issues, some very local and some affecting London as a whole.

"It was a great opportunity to hear the views from Bromley, so often neglected by City Hall and I am committed to making sure Bromley’s voice is heard.

“Sadly too many things aren't working for London under the current Mayor.

"If Londoners want a Mayor with a positive vision, who can get things done and deliver a safer, kinder, greener London, their best option is me.”

Ms Benita, who stood as candidate in 2012, is up against incumbent Sadiq Khan and Conservative candidate Shaun Bailey in this year's election, which takes place on May 7.

She previously accused London Mayor Sadiq Khan of doing “almost nothing” to tackle knife crime in the city, where more than 100 people, including more than 20 teenagers, died last year.

The former civil servant told the Lib Dem conference she would overhaul drug laws, ban schools from permanently excluding pupils, create safe zones for children to use after school hours and reopen police stations in the “heart of our communities”.
