A Lewisham school has opened a new million pound sixth form centre with views over Canary Wharf.

Haberdashers’ Aske’s Knights Academy includes specialist classrooms, private study spaces and break out spaces, along with a new canteen for sixth formers at the Launcelot Road site.

The site's opening was marked by an event last week, with representatives attending from the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Charity, the school’s key benefactor, who contributed a substantial grant that enabled the development to take place.

Executive Principal of Haberdashers’ Aske’s Knights Academy, Dr. Tesca Bennett, said of the development: “Investing in our sixth form students has been a key priority, and is part of a package of measures to transform the sixth form and create more places for local students.

"We are delighted to be able to offer a newly refurbished and developed space for Knights sixth formers to thrive in.

"This state-of-the-art centre has been carefully designed to benefit our students.”

Knights Academy, which teaches around 75 students, is part of the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Federation Trust, a family of four secondary schools and five primary schools, including Knights Temple Grove Primary School which is just around the corner from the secondary site.
