From comical playlets to hilarious songs lampooning 20th century Britain, the late Victoria Wood was in her time one of the UK's best loved comedians.
Now a show dedicated to and inspired by her comic genius is coming to Epsom.
Musical comedy performer Hannah Brackenbury's "Victorious" act has won critical acclaim, numerous awards and sold-out Brighton Fringe during its 2018 run.
The show blends stand up with musical renditions of some of Wood's best-loved songs.
Brackenbury said she had been "overwhelmed" by audience responses to her one-woman show since first taking it on the road.
"I’m delighted to finally be taking Victorious on tour around the UK. I was overwhelmed by the popularity of the shows at Brighton Fringe so I’m very excited to have the chance to perform to new audiences all over the country," she said.
"Victoria Wood was my hero and to be able to pay tribute to her in this way, and have fellow fans enjoying the show so much really means the world to me.
"It’s a great honour to be able to perform her material and keep her memory alive," Brackenbury added.
The performer said that audiences will be treated to an hour of classic songs on piano and guitar, including ‘Pam’ and the ever-popular ‘Ballad of Barry & Freda’ as well as original songs, poems and
monologues penned especially for the show.
Victorious reaches Epsom on Tuesday 4th February (8pm) at Epsom Playhouse.
Tickets are £10 and are available online via the Epsom Playhouse website.
