A woman has died following a house fire on Sutherland Square in Southwark.
Around six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Lambeth River, Brixton, Peckham and Old Kent Road attended the fire in a three storey terraced house where over half of the ground floor was damaged.
Initially crews were called at 8:37am and arrived at the scene within five minutes.
They had managed to get the fire under control by 10:09am but sadly Firefighters - who were wearing breathing apparatus, found the body of a woman on the ground floor.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade’s Fire Investigation Unit and the Metropolitan Police.
