Police have arrested two teenagers on suspicion of carrying out robberies at the Bluewater Shopping Centre in Dartford.

The arrests come after a dad posted a social media video slamming the shopping centre after his 15-year-old son was allegedly robbed at knifepoint.

The son and a friend were at Bluewater when they were approached by a gang of eight at around 7pm yesterday, Monday 30 December who stole their phones in a "packed area" of the centre.

Darren Smith says in the video, which has nearly 200,000 views, that he is "disgusted" with the way the shopping centre has dealt with the incident.

Kent Police have said that two teenagers have been arrested following three robberies and a further two attempted robberies that took place between 7pm and 7:30pm in the shopping centre.

Police said that phones and cash were stolen from five people in total, and some of the victims reported being told by the suspects they were carrying weapons.

Officers attended the scene and following a search of the area, arrested two 17-year-old boys from London on suspicion of robbery. They both currently remain in custody while enquiries are ongoing.

In Mr Smith's video, he states that at around 7pm "some youths robbed them (the son) at knifepoint in a particularly packed area.

"Apparently they work in gangs of eight and they casually sat down beside them asked them to feel the knife in their pockets and then took their phones.

"They were both petrified. It was fortunate that someone witnessed it with a young child and called the police.

"Bluewater should be totally ashamed for its complete lack of compassion and care of duty after the knife incident. We saw nobody, police or otherwise for over 2 hours"

Detective Inspector Martin Carter said: ‘Reports like these are rare but unacceptable nevertheless. Officers made arrests very soon after the robberies were reported and some of the stolen property was recovered.

‘Thank you to those who have already provided information to assist our investigation.

‘We are working with Bluewater and reviewing CCTV as part of our ongoing enquiries into the incidents but if anyone witnessed any of the incidents taking place and hasn’t yet spoken to an officer, we urge them to call Kent Police on 01474 366 149 quoting 30-1219.'
