A family in Bromley are using their stunning Christmas lights display to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity this year, in memory of their friend Anna.

Anyone who has been to Sundridge Avenue in Bromley this Christmas will have noticed the particularly bright festive display greeting their eyes, but you may not know the tragic story behind this year's effort.

Marcus, who lives at the house behind the lights, said the family had created their own charity display last year in support of Anna, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in February 2015.

The benign, low grade brain tumour was inoperable due to its location, and shortly became malignant.

So the family decided to put on an impressive array of Christmas lights, encourage people to come down and see the lights and invite them to donate to The Brain Tumour Charity.

The tumour unfortunately worsened and became aggressive, and Anna sadly died on February 14 this year.

Marcus said: "We miss our beautiful friend and want to raise as much money for this amazing charity as possible.

"This year our lights are brighter and bigger in her memory."

He said: "Brain tumours do not discriminate and they do not respect boundaries. They can strike anyone, at any age. And they strike quickly."

High grade brain tumours are different to other cancers, and striker faster.

Therefore The Brain Tumour Charity has to work differently to other cancer charities, moving further faster to find a cure.

So Marcus invites anyone from the community to pop down to the display at 2A Sundridge Avenue, Bromley, Kent, BR12PX, and to make a donation.
