The parents of a Sidcup toddler born nearly 16 weeks premature are raising money to help go towards his treatment.

Luca weighed only 780 grams at birth and had to be placed in an incubator which led to him being intubated and developing Bulbar Palsy.

The conditions have affected both his eating and speaking, making it a struggle for him to eat through his mouth.

His eight-month hospital stay has caused him delays in hitting development milestones.

But, through the help of family fundraisers, Luca had a "rapid change" in development.

Now at 2 years old, the 'little lion' has continued to fight his conditions with the help of Just4children charity.

A spokesperson for Just4children said: "Just4Children need your support to help fund intensive speech and language therapy for Luca.

“This will give Luca a better quality of life and help him flourish and grow as much as possible."

Lucas mother, Kirsty Wardley, has described their support as “Absolutely incredible” and “cannot thank them enough.”

The charity has been managing ‘Super Luca’s' donation page which has enabled his family to spend more time planning fundraisers with friends.

Their fundraisers have consisted of bake sales and bike rides so far, with a fundraising evening set for February 2020.

Luca’s father, Dean Wardley, will also attempt to climb the highest mountains of England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours as part of the 'National Three Peaks Challenge.'

All money from donations will be used to go towards Luca’s awaiting surgery and to continue expensive visits from a New York therapist.

At the time of publishing, his donation page had raised £4,900.27.
