Turnout was down around 3 per cent from the 2017 General Election

Janet Daby said she was "delighted" with the result.

She told News Shopper: "I'm honoured to be re-elected again."

Runner up in Lewisham East, Conservative Sam Thurgood, said he was "very proud of the campaign we ran".

He said after the result: "It's great to see the support of people in Lewisham East behind our agenda and crucially it shows that it's a clear choice in Lewisham East between Labour and the Conservatives, which is a fantastic result for us."
