A serious crash between a van and a car on the A2 coastbound is causing major delays in Dartford and on the M25, and has left one man in hospital.

Emergency services are at the scene, and one man was treated at the scene by South East Coast Ambulance Service, and has now been taken to hospital.

It is reported that two vehicles, a car and a van, collided at around 6:15am on the A2 coastbound near the Darenth Interchange.

Officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit have closed off the carriageway whilst they investigate, and Kent Police have advised drivers to expect long delays, advising them to find an alternative route if possible.

The A2 Eastbound is closed due to the serious collision, and traffic is queued up between the M25 J2 (Darenth interchange) and B255 Bean Lane (Bean Interchange).

The incident has also caused long queueing traffic on the M25 in both directions, and roads in and around Dartford are also experiencing severe congestion.

The closures are expected to remain late into the afternoon, with normal traffic conditions returning around 4pm.
