Police have issued a public order notice for tonight in areas across Greenwich and Lewisham, one day on from a spate of stabbings in London which has seen three men killed.

Greenwich Police has authorised a Section 60 stop and search order, starting at 6pm on Saturday, December 7, and ending at 7am the following day.

This will allow them to stop and search anyone freely, with the order in place across West Greenwich, Blackheath and Westcombe, Penisular, Charlton, Evelyn and New Cross.

Police issued this map of the areas affected by the order.

In a tweet, the Met said the order was in response to a a number of recent knife-enabled offences.

In the early hours of Friday morning, a man now identified as a drill rapper with the stage name Bis was stabbed to death in Deptford.

Detectives are confident the victim is Crosslom Davis, a member of the Harlem Spartans group, based in Kennington, south London.

His death was just one of three knife-related murders that took place in just 12 bloody hours in London.

Mr Davis was pronounced dead just after 3:30am on Friday, hours after Exauce Ngimbi, 22, was killed in an unrelated attack in Hackney, east London.

A third man, 26, was stabbed to death in a suspected robbery near Harrods in Knightsbridge, west London, as he made his way home from a restaurant just after midnight.

A Section 60 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act gives police the right to search people in a defined area during a specific time period when they believe that serious violence will take place and it's necessary to use this power to prevent such violence, or if serious violence has taken place locally.

The same S60 search order was issued yesterday in Hackey, where Mr Ngimbi was killed on Thursday.
