Detectives are appealing for any information or witnesses who may have seen a collision that occurred in the early hours of this morning.

According to police reports officers attended the scene at around 4:35am on Morden Road at the junction with Jubilee Way in Merton where they discovered that a road traffic collision had taken place which involved a lorry and a car.

The London Air Ambulance were also in attendance but sadly the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver has been named as 35-year-old Lukasz Wiergolinski and his next of kin have been informed.

The lorry driver however, was not arrested and Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are currently investigating.

They would like to speak to witnesses or anyone with dash cam, mobile phone or anyone who may have CCTV footage of the collision.
