WINCHESTER Mayor Eleanor Bell visited Winchester Discovery Centre to open a visually impaired photography exhibition put on by Losing My Sight UK, a sight loss charity based in Portsmouth but provide a service to visually impaired communities across Hampshire.

Below 20/20 Photography exhibition was an idea from LMS UK’s founder Dave Taylor who runs the charities visually impaired photography club, Dave says running the photography club has given our club members the confidence and ability to take photos and be proud of them no matter what other people think if it gets anyone out and about and mix with other visually impaired people with the same interests then we must be doing something right.

The touring Below 20/20 Photography Exhibition has exhibited in Basingstoke, Portchester, Portsmouth, Gosport ending in Winchester all our exhibitions have been met with enthusiasm and support from the public, says Mr Taylor.

All the photographers have various degrees of sight loss: Karl Greatorex and Corinne Highton from Basingstoke, Andrew Fletcher and Dave Taylor from Portsmouth, Elena Sommers from Portchester and Will Philips from Fareham.

Mr Taylor said: “Next year the charity will have more funding from the National Lottery Awards for All and we have new photographers on board. This year’s exhibitions were funded by Tesco Bags of Help and we are very grateful to Tesco and their customers.”

Next years exhibition locations are at the moment will be,

Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Portchester, Portsmouth, Gosport, Winchester, Southampton and Guildford.
