An SGN lorry collapsed into a sinkhole which was apparently reported to authorities two months ago.

Barriers have been protecting the sinkhole on Allard Close in Orpington but a lorry, supposedly there to fix the problem, got stuck in it yesterday morning.

One mum told News Shopper her disabled twins were unable to leave their home after the accident.

She added that the road has been "unsafe" for months.

Another neighbour told News Shopper it was "chaos" in the area and that he had to get a train to work because the road remains closed.

"The lorry was still there when I left for work this morning," he added. "Last summer we had a pot hole which they came to fill.

"Then about two months ago a great big pot hole developed and apparently it is 40ft deep. A big lorry came yesterday and the pothole from last summer collapsed into it."

One resident added: "I came home and a lorry had fallen through my road nearly killing one of the workers behind him."

We understand the lorry has since been removed from the sinkhole.

News Shopper has contacted relevant authorities for more information.
