The red carpet was rolled out in Catford town centre in Wednesday night for the official launch of the town's first cinema in 18 years.

Catford Mews cinema, which had been opened to the public in a 'soft launch' before the official opening, sits on the site of the old market on Winslade Way.

The three-screen independent cinema, developed by the Really Local Group, will be the first in Catford since the ABC on Sangley Road closed down in 2001.

Lewisham mayor Damien Egan attended the launch, where Lewisham-based food vendors offered samples of their cuisine for punters to try out.

Vendors at the cinema include:

  • Vegan doughnut company Bears Dough
  • Vegan Swedish cafe, Daun Deli
  • Patty Man
  • Compound Coffee
  • Fuse

The wheelchair-accessible venue offers screening tickets ranging from £4.99 for children on weekdays and £8.99 for adults on weekends.
