A second teenager has been charged with the Newham murder of a 15-year-old Woolwich boy from Woolwich.

Michael Irving died from stab wounds, after police were called by ambulance services to reports of a fight on Byford Close on Tuesday September 3.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder on the same day and charged with murder on September 5, appearing the following day at Stratford Magistrates’ Court.

On Tuesday, a 15-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of murder, appearing at the same court the next day.

Both have been remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday, September 13.

Family and friends have paid tribute to Michael, arranging a memorial which took place in Woolwich at the weekend.

Jessica Mckey, a friend of Michael's, told News Shopper: "He had such a big impact on everyone who crossed paths with him, he was a great friend to have and he was surely loved by everyone.

"Michael's death has broken family’s and friends hearts, to think Michael was only 15 with his whole life ahead of him makes us all sick to the gut."

Officers continue to appeal for information.
