A shaken mum was "punched straight in the face" by young muggers in Orpington before her brave dog rushed to her defence.

The mother, 48, was approached at Brooks Way, Orpington by two men on bikes who demanded money.

"My mum refused, and one jumped off his bike and punched her straight in the face," her son, Jordan Bliss, told News Shopper.

The shocking incident happened on Monday, September 2, and Jordan said his mum now has a swollen and bruised face.

"My mum’s dog went and bit the other lad," Jordan, who lives in Derbyshire, continued. "They tried to run at my mum and tried to throw a bicycle at the dog.

"One lad tried to push my mum over. She is on crutches and is partly disabled but the dog kept defending her."

He added: "She is alright, a little bit shaken up, but she is ok."

Jordan described being furious after hearing what happened to his mother.

"I was going mad," he said. "I was going to head down there with my mates and sort them out.

"I am going to see my mum soon to check on her and see if she is alright."

Those responsible are described as being "two young white men".

Police were called to the assault, which was reported at around 5.40pm.
