Plans to build a Travelodge in Lewisham have been given the green light by the Council.

A six-storey, 127-room hotel will be built on the corner of Lewisham High Street and Morley Road with a 400 square metre commercial space on the ground floor.

The plans follow a previously rejected application for an eight-story building containing more than 50 flats to be constructed on the site - which was blocked due to "excessive height" and a "poor standard of accommodation.

According to the application submitted by Skillcrown Homes Ltd, the Travelodge will also contain a cafe/bar on the first floor next to the reception.

Kevin Clark, director of land and business development at Skillcrown, said: “We are pleased to have secured planning permission to deliver this scheme to such a prominent area of Lewisham.

"Skillcrown has a successful relationship with Travelodge following the development of a 92-room hotel in Bromley and we have no doubt, Lewisham will be equally as successful”.
