A young restaurant worker fled for her life when a pair of high power cars crashed just metres from her table.

Ralu Bucur was sitting outside on the terrace with a glass of wine when she heard a loud bang that sounded like a bomb.

The 21-year-old ran as the black Jaguar flew into the air sending bricks and car fragments flying towards her.

Rula, of Chislehurst said: "I had just finished work and I was sat outside having a glass of wine with my friend.

"He saw the cars collide and he said to me 'run. We need to go now.' "I saw the Jaguar flying, spinning and then landing on its back.

"It was really loud, like a bomb.

"I just thought this is not happening. I thought it could crash into us.

"There were bricks and pieces of lamppost flying around us and bits of the car flying towards me.

"I just jumped up and ran and then about 30 or 40 people came rushing towards the car.

"When they took the guy out of the car, he looked like a dead person.

"The emergency services were trying to save him for an hour and a half.

"They have him oxygen and put on a head brace.

"We thought he had passed away when the ambulance drove off because there were no blue lights but then they switched them on."

The restaurant worker said both men were white and described the Audi driver as blonde, slim and in his early twenties.

She added: "The Audi driver was then sat on a table by the restaurant with police and a machine to measure his blood pressure.

"He was just shaking and panicked and mumbling where he was in shock but he looked physically fine."
