A man remains in hospital after being arrested for allegedly attacking people with a "metal and a wooden pole" in Deptford High Street.

Police were called at 10.36pm last night to find the suspect injured at nearby Reginald Road.

"It was determined that his behaviour directly lead to an alteration with a member of the public," a police spokesman said.

"A metal pole and a wooden pole were recovered."

We understand a man in his 40s was arrested for affray before being taken to hospital where his injuries are being assessed.

One person who lives nearby told News Shopper a man was tasered before collapsing.

"Apparently a man was running around with a stick or a rod threatening people," he added.

However, police did not confirm whether a taser was used.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We sent two medics in cars, an incident response officer and an ambulance crew to the scene.

"We treated a man at the scene and took him to hospital."
