TWO hours, a lot of cake and countless cuppas made for a hugely successful coffee morning when a young girl raised almost £900 for charity.

Eight-year-old Lily Tancock, from Burton Bradstock, is raising funds for Weldmar.

She held a coffee morning at Burton Bradstock village hall on Saturday, offering raffle prizes, cakes, jolly jars and crafts.

Impressively, Lily raised more than £868 in just two hours.

According to her proud dad Dom, Lily – a carnival attendant at this year’s event - is ‘so warming’ and often makes sure elderly neighbours are well.

Dom said: “Lily loves living in our wonderful village and supporting local events.

"When she came to us a few months ago and said she wanted to hold a coffee morning for Weldmar and raise £50, never did we think that she would actually raise a grand total of £868.16. [We're] so, so proud of her and what she has achieved."

Lily chose to help Weldmar as the charity looked after her grandmother, who passed away four years ago.

Dom added: "None of this would’ve been possible without Kerry and every single person that helped with raffle prizes, made and donated cakes, jolly jars, crafts, donated from far and who gave up their Saturday morning to help out, attend the event, buy raffle tickets and eat cake.

"Thank you for your generosity and kindness that has enabled Lily to raise such a large amount for Weldmar Hospice."
