Member of Veolia collection team has died
The death of a binman while on duty in Thornton Heath has been confirmed.
The tragic incident was initially reported by
Inside Croydonearlier this week and Veolia has now issued a statement confirming the death.
"We can confirm a member of our collection team, in their 40s, was taken ill without warning at around 1.30pm in Thornton Heath, Croydon on Thursday, July 25," A spokesman said.
"An ambulance was called immediately and he was taken to St Georges Hospital for treatment where he died later that evening."
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time."
The spokesman added that the cause of death has not yet been confirmed to the company.
