A man who was in life-threatening condition after being hit by a car has now been assessed and is in a stable condition.

Officers were called to Woolwich New Road on August 1 at around 7.30am.

Police, LAS and the air ambulance were deployed and found a man had been hit by a van outside Woolwich Arsenal station.

The man in his mid-60's was taken to a major trauma centre with a head injury and remains there.

His condition has now been assessed as stable.

The driver of the van stopped at the scene and the roads around the accident had to be closed for most of the day.
