A busy road in Plumstead was waterlogged yesterday after a large water main burst.
Wickham Lane had to be closed by the fire brigade after residents reported huge amounts of water leaking from pavements and running down the road.
Thames Water were called just before 11am yesterday and immediately sent a team down to investigate.
They apologised for the incontinence and the team got to work to repair it as quickly as possible.
Buses are currently on diversion as the road remains closed.
Thames Water has now issued an update.
A spokesman from Thames Water told News Shopper: "Our team finished repairing the burst pipe overnight and are now working to re-open the road by tomorrow.
"We're sorry for any disruption caused by our work."
