Roads have re-opened after a man in his mid-60s was hit by a van in Woolwich this morning.
Officers were called to Woolwich New Road at 7.41am this morning (August 1) following reports of a crash.
London Ambulance Service has now confirmed that the man was air lifted to a major trauma centre with a head injury.
The man believed to be in his 60's is thought to be in life-threatening condition and his next of kin has been informed.
The driver of the van stopped at the scene.
Woolwich New Road and Vincent Road are still blocked off and police remain on the scene.
Routes 51, 53 54 96 99 161 177 180 244 291 380 386 and 469, are all diverted in both directions due to the incident.
An LAS spokeswoman told News Shopper: "We sent two ambulance crews, a medic in a car and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance.
"We treated a man for head injuries and took him to a major trauma centre by air."
