A motorcyclist was rushed to hospital following a crash on the A2 near Dartford which caused traffic chaos yesterday evening.

Highways England closed the A2 Eastbound after the B255 Bean Junction by Bluewater shortly after 6pm following reports of a crash between a lorry, a car and a motorcyclist.

News Shopper contacted Kent Police for an update as it happened and has since received confirmation that a man was injured during the collision.

A spokesman from Kent Police said: "Kent Police was called at 6.20pm on Tuesday, July 30 regarding a collision involving a lorry, a car and a motorcycle on the coastbound carriageway of the A2 near Gravesend.

"Officers and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene where the motorcyclist was treated for injuries.

"He was taken to a local hospital for further medical attention.

"The carriageway was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident and reopened at around 7.20pm."

The motorcyclist's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
