A man is in critical condition after being hit by a car in a busy Greenwich road this evening. 

Police have closed off Creek Road following the incident which occurred at around 4pm.

A Met spokesman said: "Police were called by the London Ambulance Service on July 23 at around 4pm to a report of a car in collision with a pedestrian in Creek Road, SE8.

"The emergency services attended and found the pedestrian, a man injured.

"His injuries are being treated as life threatening.

"The car stopped at the scene.

"Officers remain on scene and enquiries continue."

A spokeswoman for the LAS has said: "

“We were called at 3:53pm today (July 23) to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Creek Road in Greenwich. 

"We sent two ambulance crews, a medic in a car and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance. 

"We treated a person at the scene for a head injury and took them to a major trauma centre by road."

Greenwich West MPS tweeted earlier that a "serious" RTC has occurred and are advising drivers to slow down on approach.
