A 12-inch burst water pipe is continuing to affect roads in Bromley this morning.

We understand the A21 Bromley Common between Homesdale Road and Crown Lane Spur is currently closed both ways.

The broken main is in Masons Hill and yesterday around 100 homes were left waterless.

Thames Water has apologised to locals this morning and reported that it was a "complicated repair".

The full statement read: "We're sorry to any customers in the BR1 and BR2 areas if our burst pipe in Bromley Common is causing you to have low pressure or no water.

"Our specialist engineers will continue to work hard through the night to fix is as quickly as they can.

"This is a a complicated repair, with the damaged water pipe being next to a gas main and power cables deep underground, a gas pipe was accidentally hit and the gas engineers are presently carrying out repair works on the gas pipe.

"As soon as the repair is completed, we will continue the repair works on our pipes."

A Thames Water spokesman told News Shopper: "We’re sorry to customers affected by a burst to a 12-inch diameter water pipe and any motorists whose journeys have been interrupted.

"Our engineers were quickly on site and have been working through the night to fix the problem but due to its complicated nature this is taking longer than expected.

"We have set up a bottled water station in the area and will also be hand-delivering water to customers on our priority services register."
